Entangled Carrots and Other Harvest

Image
Even though the carrots were sown in seed tapes they managed to entangle very thoroughly.   A bit from the greenhouse, and the roses still produce lovely flowers. The rain has done wonders.  Danish

Flowers in the garden right now

Image
The roses bloom, but they need rain. This rose is yellow at first, and then it turns red: This lily is a gift from my neighbor. It is now multiplied in several places in the garden. Seeds from Dansk Blindesamfund (A Danish association for blind people) turned into these yellow flowers, who willingly sow themselves year by year: The hollyhocks sow themselves willingly too, and it is always fascinating to see which color it will be. More hollyhocks can be seen here . Danish

The First Strawberries - Roses

Image
The first strawberries have begun to ripe now, and the birds have also spotted them, so it is time to cover with net. Some of the roses are blooming now and smell wonderful. This rose was in the garden in 75, and we have succeeded  to make more. It  doesn't bloom for very long, but when it does there is a lovely scent in the garden.  This rose has a cascade of little white flowers: Rosa Rugosa Monterosa - My  potpourrie-rose mentioned in a previous blog .  This rose has in a couple of years managed to climb up to the balcony railing  on the 1st floor. Other pictures of roses from the garden can be seen here: Roses in my garden. Danish

Flowers from the garden - evening view

Image
Still flowers in the garden - despite frost and snow. Torben made this little bouquet today. The view is from the balcony this afternoon after a day with sunshine. The sky was lovely when the sun had set. It is not as impressive  and colorful on the picture as it was in reality. Danish

First Snow of the Year

Image
First snow of the year. Not much yet, but a decorative white powdering. The Fairy rose has blossomed quite a while, but now it will probably end. The holly is tougher ☃. Danish

David Austen Rose - Mary Rose

Image
We celebrated our 50th  engagement day in October  by planting two roses. The roses are called Mary Rose, and the above picture is from the label on the plant. It is said to be  100-125 cm tall and the scent should be like that of almond flowers. Blooming from June until late autumn. It is an English rose bred by David Austen in 1963. It will be intriguing to see it bloom and inhale the scent - hopefully in the summer of 2018 Danish
