 In Google Photos there is a fun function called: Rediscover this day. It shows photos taken on exactly this day a number of years ago . Today it showed photos from the Bjørn Wiinblad exhibition at Arken. We went to see it exactly three years ago. It was a very fine exhibition with ceramics, posters and tapestries This is a little selection from the pictures I took. I really like  Wiinblad's pictorial world and wonderful colors, and furthermore it is affordable art. So this was a nice reminder and revisit of some of Wiinblads creations. Danish

The Chalk cliff is 1 km long and  rises  80 meters above the Vezere river. It is made of five terraces , and was hollowed out by the river, frost and ice in the glacial age 60 million years ago. The cliff offered shelter to the hunter-gatherers and was possibly first inhabited by the Neanderthal people 50000 B.C., and later by the  Cro-Magnon people 25000 B.C. People have lived here in Bronze - Iron  and Middle Ages until 1588 when the place was destroyed during the Wars of Religion. The greatest period was the Middle Ages where bishop Frotaire of Périgueux decided to built a fortress to protect the inhabitants against  Norman invasions, but already in the Bronze Age it many people lived here. Batavia 1994 I am at the moment reading. The View from Penthouse B  by  Elinor Lipman . It takes place in an appartment building called Batavia - named after a Dutch East Indiaman built in 1628 in Amsterdam. It was wrecked on its maiden voyage off the  Australian coast. 40 out of a crew of 341 drowned, but the rest reached a small island.  Lack of water and food made the commander  Francisco Pelsaert, together with some of the officers, sail for help in the ship's boat. In his absence a mutiny broke loose under command of one of the company's officials - Jeronimus Cornelisz. More than 100 people were slaughtered by him and his followers. A group of soldiers led by Wiebe Hayes fought the mutineers from a nearby island, and when  Pelsaert returned he succeeded with the help of these soldiers to overcome the rebellion. Most mutineers were hanged, some whipped, some keelhauled and two were cast off in Australian mainland. In 1985 the reconstruction of...

We visited the art museum Arken to see Mucha , but had a bonus experience. It was   Ugo Rondinones  installation: Vocabulary of Solitude . It consists of 45 human sculptures, all dressed as clowns. They are all different in stature, but have a tiredness in common. They are sitting or lying down. It is a silent place and they are perhaps a little sad in spite of their colorful costumes. A great contrast to the happy, rushing around and noisy clowns we normally see. The exhibition can be seen until the 30th of December.  20 years ago we were in  Český Krumlov and saw an exhibition of  Mucha's art at  Egon Schiele Centrum . So it is really nice that the art museum   Arken  has  made a revisit possible. We went there yesterday and enjoyed the very fine exhibition of Mucha's posters and photos, and also Mucha inspired album covers from the 1960's and 70's The motive on this picture is the same as the one on a bowl we have,. I think we bought t in France, also many years ago. If you like Art Nouveau - pictures of sensual women - and Le Style Mucha, this exhibition lasts till the 3'rd of June - 2018. We enjoyed it, and ended off with delicious  food in Restaurant Arken . It is not situated in  Ishøj at the art museum, but in Køge  at Køge Marina. We were given a  Morebox  with a Luxury dinner for 2, and the Restaurant Arken served delicious food, fine sevice and a  lovely view. Danish
