Chestnuts
Chestnuts.
We have a chestnut tree in the garden and when the chestnuts started to drop down I thought nothing would come of it. Luckily I was wrong. The first chestnuts were all small and with no substance, but
later on the real stuff began to appear.
Last year I tried to make glazed chestnuts and it was delicious.
Cut a cross in the pointed end of each chestnut and boil them in slightly salted water for approximately 40 min. Peal the chestnuts and try very carefully to get as much of the brown inner furry skin removed too. It is time consuming :-) and sometimes they go to pieces (tastes the same though). Then glaze them in skillet with 3 tbsp butter + 4 tbsp sugar.
This year I will make it for Christmas to go with the roasted ducks.
