Garden - Borlotti Beans - Chili con/sin Carne

I also dry Borlotti beans. (You can read more about drying beans here) We grow them exclusively for the seeds. They taste very well in Chili con Carne or Chili sin Carne.


In Chili sin Carne I originally used black beans, but we don't grow them any more, so now it is Borlotti beans.
Remember to soak the seeds in  water for 12 hours and throw the water away. Cook in plenty of water for 45-60 minutes.
My recipe for Chili con Carne:
 3 dl dried bean seedsSoak the beans for 12 hours. Throw the soaking water away and cook the beans in water with a vegetable bouillon cube added. Cook approx. 1 hour and drain.
Fry onion and garlic and then the meat. Add tomato,  pepper and chili . Let cook for ½ hour. Add the beans and season with salt, and also cayenne pepper, if you want it to be hotter.

500 g ground beef
Butter/oil for frying
2 onions
2  garlic cloves
1 can chopped tomatoes
2 red / green or snack peppers diced
½ tsp chili flakes
salt
maybe a little cayenne pepper

and Chili sin Carne

1½ dl dried beans

2 onions
Soak the beans for 12 hours. Throw the soaking water away and cook the beans in water with a vegetable bouillon cube added. Cook approx. 45 minutes and drain. 
Fry garlic, onion, and carrots lightly in oil. Add celery, chili and spices . Add tomato, water and corn and cook for 15 minutes. Season with salt, pepper and maybe cayenne pepper.
Tzatziki goes well with the dish.

2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp ground oregano
1 tin chopped tomatoes
1 little tin of corn
1 dl water
salt
pepper
maybe cayenne pepper or tabasco
