Dish Cloth 27 - Monet

knitted in cotton

The pattern on this dish cloth is inspired by my bathroom tiles, which again is inspired by Monet's kitchen in  Giverny and an article in The Express on Sunday Magazine.

We visited  Monet's garden and house on a vacation in 1987:

Giverny, France

and when we were going to renovate our bathroom  (2001) I painted the tiles in porcelain painting and then  they were heated in a ceramic kiln. I wanted it to be a bit like patchwork.

Now I will reuse some of the patterns for dish cloths, though it looks a lot different when knitted 😊

Cast on 60 stitches and knit 4 rows and then pattern until the cloth has the desired length. Then knit 4 rows and bind off.

Pattern:
1.row: 3 k, 1 p
2.row: 2 p, 1 k, 1 p
3.row: 3 p, 1 k
4.row: as row 2

You have to remember that all uneven rows start in the right side of the diagram and X=purl and ▢= knit. All equal rows start in the left side of the diagram and X=knit and ▢=purl.
