After reading The Perfume Collector I wanted to read more books by Kathleen Tessaro, and this book didn't disappoint..
Rebellious Maeve Fanning, the daughter of a single Irish mom, lives in the Italian part of Boston. She is determined to better her prospects, despite limited opportunities during  the 30s depression. She tries her luck  New York, but returns  to  Boston, as she doesn't succeed.  She finds herself a job, and a double life  with parties, booze and wealthy friends begin, until she finally  gets her priorities right.
A well written historical fiction.
