Alice Munroe receives a letter from France, telling her she is the main heir after Eva d'Orsey. Alice is newlywed, but not particular happy and she has difficulties adapting to the expectations in London society in 1950s. Grace sets off to Paris to unravel why she is to inherit from a person unknown to her. The novel takes place in Paris, London, New York and Monte Carlo i 1920s and 1950s in a world of perfume creators, gamblers, and hotels. While Alice Munroe tries to find herself and find out what she really wants, the story of Eva d'Orsey's life unfolds.
A well told romance with many shades of fragrance.
