Fatal Pursuit - Martin Walker

Fatal Pursuit by Martin Walker

This crime series takes place in  St. Denis a  fictional town in Périgord.  The first two are translated to Danish, and I am now at book nine in the series (except number 8, which I haven't got hold of yet). Apart from the fictional  town of St. Denis the area and other towns are real and are so very well described that we felt the need to discover the Dordogne ourselves and places mentioned in the novels. We certainly weren't disappointed. It was a lovely vacation in a wonderful and interesting region of France. I will later blog about some of the places.

The main character in the novels is Chief of Police in the town of St. Denis - Benoît  Courrèges (Bruno). He is a former soldier, who values country life, his dog, good food and wine, growing his garden, hunting, tennis and rugby, and he is also very fond of St. Denis and many of its inhabitants.

I have read the novels with great pleasure, not least because of the settings in France and the recurrent
characters. This novel  is about an old mans death, a classic car meeting, a car race and money-laundering, but for me it is first and foremost the persons, the French atmosphere  and the rural surroundings that make me so fond of the series.

Translated to Danish:

Politimesteren i St. Denis - Bruno Courrèges 1
Dødens Vingård - Bruno Courrèges 2
