Lament for a Maker - Michael Innes

Michael Innes

Lament for a Maker by Michael Innes
This is the third novel in the  sir John Appleby series.
It is a very well told crime novel, in which the events are told by 4 different people.
First - and the most difficult to read due to Scottish  words and spelling - a tale told by the well read shoemaker Ewan Bell.
Second tale is written by Noel Gylby as a letter to his girlfriend .
The third tale is by an elderly lawyer - Aljo Wedderburn - summoned to help, and last it is John Appleby's record.
It is very well written and the way each tale is written gives you a good idea of the personalities of the writers.
The story takes place on a secluded castle called  Erchany, where a murder takes place.
